Christ and Him Crucified, Not Human Wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:1-5)
Imagine walking into a hall. You are waiting for a speaker everyone is excited to hear. The crowd expects someone confident, polished, and impressive. But after a few minutes, people are disappointed. The speaker is not impressive. He does not use clever arguments. He does not have a strong personality. As people leave, they whisper, “He looked weak. His voice was not impressive. What a waste of time!” Our world today values charisma, impressive titles, and polished presentations. Sadly, the church can fall into the same trap. We can begin to think, “Impress us. Show us how smart you are.” The ancient city of Corinth was much like this. People cared about status, philosophy, and impressive public speaking. If you wanted people to listen to you, you had to stand out. But when the Apostle Paul came to Corinth, he refused to play that game. He did not try to impress them.
